One of the best ways to learn is to mimic. Our educational system is based on this ancient 600 year old model where the novice learns in the shadow of the master; the master being Pablo Picasso, who instructs our students in the handling of paint, the dexterity of eye to hand, and the knowledge acquired through observation in the identification of color.
Each student's timidity is peeled away as they grow in confidence through each layer of paint. They begin to understand the depth of stamina and craft. The discovery of craft perfected is at the heart of all art.
For many students, the act of starting a painting much alone completing one was inconceivable but a few weeks past. This method, in a manner of speaking, is a way to "flush the flock" and replace fear and anxiety with courage and curiosity.

The parameter were such:
  1. They must freehand a reasonable facsimile of a painting projected.
  2. They must attempt to recreate the colors of the original artwork.
  3. They may not use black to create the darkest color.
  4. The work must be completed in 2 weeks.
